We’re All Gonna Die - 100 meters of existence
A couple nights ago I stayed up till about 5 a.m. looking at photographers’ Web sites. I do that every so often and usually the next day I wake up with a bunch of new bookmarked sites. This night in particular my favorite was Simon Hoegsberg’s site and his new project, “We’re all Gonna Die - 100 meters of existence.”
Please take a look at this and many of his other projects, some of which are very impressive.
maine at night
During my recent trip to Maine I decided to go out at 2am and photograph whatever I could find. I managed to get a few images that I liked. The town I was driving in is pretty much abandoned during the winter, so I hustled around getting whatever I could without the cops harassing me for being suspicious.
The spotlight over the shed caused the snow ontop of the shed to really get blown out. I tried to recover what I could but oh well, I still enjoy the image.
I am not particularly sure what caused me to photograph this gas station but for some reason it really intrigued me. I am not 100% happy with the image but I think that I have looked at it too much and that in time I will like it more.
hope for the future

Our new president was inaugurated today, and Southern celebrated with a “watch the inauguration party” and the chance to have your picture with the president in cardboard form. As the crowd of people watched Obama take the oath of office I stood with my back to the screen photographing their faces—and saw just how much of an impact he’s had on the country with his promise of change. I wish him the best, and I hope that he and his administration can follow through on all those promises.
getting ready for the judges…
Today I spent a couple hours on campus in the newsroom putting together my submissions for the SPJ 2008 Mark of Excellence Awards. I came up with entries in each of the following categories: Breaking News, General News, Features, and Sports Photography.
After shipping off the entries I realized that most people outside campus never get to see the paper so over the next week or so ill try to upload a couple of my favorite tearsheets from this past semester.
Here is one of my submission for sports photography…
