sleeping in philadelphia x2
As I said in an earlier post, I walked around for about 15 minutes in Philadelphia photographing people sleeping on the streets. I really enjoy the light in this shot and the fountain in the backround.
scientology final project
I am working towards my first audio slideshow of the scientology protests I have covered for the past 3 months. Thursday I am doing my first interview with a representative of the Church of Scientology in New Haven. I hope to shoot the scientology protestors on May 9th right before the project is due.
sleeping in philadelphia
I went to Philadelphia this past weekend for a SPJ conference. On one of the nights, I walked around with my 70-200 shooting for about 15 minutes. I got around 15 pictures of people sleeping on the street or, in this case, the grass. This is one of my favorites in the series.
brian cashman visits southern
Brian Cashman visited Southern Connecticut State tonight along with Peter Gammons of ESPN. They came to take part in the Mary and Louis Fusco Distinguished Lecture Series, which happens at Southern each year.
N.E.R.D x2
Here are two more photos from the concert, I’ll link these to an online gallery on Wednesday.
The entire show fans were reaching out to touch him, and this photo shows that best.
N.E.R.D concert
Pharrell performed at Southern this past Friday as part of the Spring Week events. His show was absolutely awesome, and he was really fun to photograph. At one point he pulled me onto the stage, which I totally didn’t expect. I will upload a photo gallery with all the images this week. Thanks again to Pharrell and N.E.R.D for being so awesome and putting on such a great show at Southern Connecticut State.
connecticut hall workers protest
This past Friday, I covered a protest on the Southern Connecticut State University campus. About 30 workers of the Local 217 Union surprised the president of the university by showing up in her office unannounced. They were protesting Chartwells, the food service company that Southern has hired to manage the food served on campus. This photograph is of Oscar Smith (one of the protestors) taken while he was being interviewed by a reporter…
“Workers are coming in with doctors’ notes, a signed doctor’s note, and Chartwells is not giving them paid leave. There ain’t no weak link here,” said Oscar Smith Jr., gesturing toward the other workers as
they left Engleman Hall. “Only weak link is in Chartwells lying and in their deceit.” - Oscar Smith
bathing suit weather
It’s getting warm in New Haven, which means summer is getting closer. Here is a shot I took this past summer at a beach in Brooklyn, NY.
