I shot another foreclosure story for the New Haven Independent a week ago. The story is quite interesting and worth taking a look at. This will be my last work for the New Haven Independent for the summer, because I am starting my second internship at The New Haven Register this week!

knowing when to stop
I shot the Scientology protests for the last time this past Saturday. I have shot them for the past three months, and I have finally gotten enough images to tell the story. This photo is from yesterday, and I love the way it came out. This girl was giving me dirty looks the entire time I was photographing her–I think it comes through nicely in the image.

Every second Saturday of each month, protesters assemble a block away from my front door to protest the Chuch of Scientology. This past Saturday I grabbed my 70-200 and went down to see what all the commotion was about.
This photo is one of the first 5 shots that I took. They were unsure of who I was, so as you can see the protestors in the back are straining their necks to get a better look at me. Soon after the photograph was taken, the group as a whole ran at me and starting asking who I was affailiated with. After they realize I was just a kid with a camera they relaxed and continued with their protest.
This guy was suspicious of who I was and why I was photographing. I had to reassure him multiple times that I was just taking pictures for my own reasons and maybe for the newspaper or my blog. After he relaxed I took this shot.
Something about people in masks creeps me out. I plan on photographing them each month. Next time I think they will stop posing for me and questions my motives.
